February 25-27

Every time birthday season rolls around I put everything else on hold. Until I can find a TARDIS to have all the time in the world I have to work with what I got. So here's a little catch up post for the other lunches we made this week.

Monday - Ninjago - I went the easy route since Green monkey had his big birthday bash this weekend and I was tired with a capital "T".

In this lunch :
  • Peanut butter and jelly Lego sandwich and a lego figurine.
  • Ninja babybel
  • Grapes
  • Carrots
Tuesday - National Children's Dental Health for Blue Monkey

In this lunch -
  • Peanut butter and jelly tooth with cheese on top
  • Pirates booty teeth
  • Grapes
  • Carrot toothbrush with pirate booty tooth paste
Class Snack - It was our turn to bring in snacks, and of course the teachers couldn't wait to see if I brought cute food or a boxed item. The adored the smiles. There is a student with nut allergies so instead of the usual peanut butter I used apple butter as the gums. The kids loved them, and I sent extra marshmallows and extra apple slices in case some weren't brave enough to try it, or didn't like one of the ingredients...there were no leftovers ;)

Directions:
  • Wash and slice small apples
  • Toss with lemon juice and water, or other fruit preservative to prevent browning
  • Spread apple butter on 2 slices of apple
  • Add marshmallows and pinch to close the mouth a bit, some of my marshmallows were being frisky and popped back out, 3-year-olds- didn't mind.
Lady bug - Green Monkey has been learning about lady bugs this week and requested one for lunch.

In this lunch :
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwich using 3 circle cutters, candy eyes, fruit leather, and crust for the antennae
  • Peanut butter and jelly flowers with veggie straw stems
  • Grapes
  • Peanut butter on celery
Wednesday - Happy 6th Birthday Green Monkey!!!!!! All he wanted for lunch was cake, "Because you can have as much junk food as you want on your birthday" he says. I negotiated some real food and came up with TARDIS "cake"
 In this lunch :
  • Peanut butter and jelly TARDIS. I don't have a cake cutter so I made frosting and windows out of cheese
  • Carrot candles
  • Grapes
  • Bow tie little debbie cake (Shh he doesn't know it started out as a butterfly)
Mom's McMuffin - He had his first taste of McD's version while watching my marathon the weekend before, but at 6am no you don't get McD's and real food tastes better ;)
  • Buttered toasted english muffin,
  • Scrambled eggs cut with circle cutter
  • Mild cheddar cheese
  • Bacon
Thursday  - Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss. If you haven't looked through the linky over at Bento Bloggers & friends yet, you should there are so many amazing lunches, snacks, activities, plenty of ideas to celebrate his birthday coming up this Saturday March 2nd. We added ours in yesterday click on these pics to go back one post.

Today Green monkey has their Read Across America reading marathon, so he packed all his favorite Seuss books in his Green Eggs and Ham bag and posed with our Cat in the Hat gear.

Hopefully I can add in little blue monkey Tuesday when his school celebrates Dr. Seuss day. Have a great weekend!
